Zoning – Planning Matters
Since becoming the Planning Board Attorney for the Township of Mahwah in the 1980’s, I have been involved in all aspects of Zoning Law, representing institutions, corporations and individuals. Over the years, I have acquired a thorough knowledge of the zoning regulations of Mahwah and adjacent communities as well as a deep understanding of how to work with local government officials and staff. I have partnered with architects, engineers, environmental specialists, and consultants with specific expertise to provide counsel to my clients and to present clear, concise proposals or recommendations to Planning Boards and Zoning Boards.
Representing AVR Realty, I secured a use variance for the construction of a hotel and I have obtained numerous site plan approvals, waivers, and variances resulting in the construction of several office warehouse facilities. I have assisted many clients—both homeowners and developers—in obtaining non-conforming use determinations and setback, height, and lot coverage variances. I also successfully represented a client objecting to a use variance application whereby an abandoned auto dealership would have been turned into high-volume auto body repair shop. Most recently, I represented a client whose property was burdened by an easement of necessity and we succeeded in thwarting the placement of a driveway over a portion of my client’s front yard to provide vehicular access to the landlocked property.
If you have questions regarding a building proposal or changes in the use of an existing structure, please give me a call at Phone: (201) 529-5888 / (845) 357-0444. With experienced counsel at your side, it can be simplified and handled expeditiously, often via email or a telephone call and an office visit.. It is better to know the zoning limitations of the property at the outset than to find out after you have invested much time and money.
